Silverwing

Nicknames: Silver, Splash (By Astra)

Special Somepony: Astrantia Frost

Talent: Swimming gracefully and powerfully using her deformed wings like flippers.

Job: Silver makes most of her money by entering professional swimming competitions. She has an advantage due to her unique methods of swimming, but she doesn’t think it’s unfair, since she was born with it.

Personality: Silverwing has a few sides to her. When she’s happy, she’s a joy to be around. She’s cheerful, and somewhat funny. However, she has a huge tendency to get panic attacks. She’s also an introvert, and slightly awkward in social situations. She hides her anxiety pretty well, and only ponies who know her really well can tell how she’s really feeling. She loves to cuddle, and enjoys spending time with her loved ones, but she needs a lot of time to “recharge”. She’s high maintenance, in the sense that it takes some work to keep her happy, but most will agree it’s worth the effort, because she’s just a very fun pony when she is. She’s also a good friend and always has good advice.

Her Story: Silverwing was born with deformed wings. She has very few feathers, and the ones that she does have are extremely small. Her wings resemble undeveloped duck wings. They are also quite a bit larger than average. She can fly, but only barely. She gets tired easily when flying, can’t fly as high as most pegasi, and is quite a bit slower as well.

Cutie Mark Story: She grew up hating her wings, as she knew from a very early age that they were abnormal. That all changed when she discovered her talent. She was going for a walk, and discovered a small, clear pond. There she saw a young turtle that had just been attacked by an alligator. It’s right flipper was almost completely torn off. Silverwing had always liked turtles, and quickly rushed him home. She managed to save his life, and a month later, she decided that he was fully healed. She realized that he would have to learn to swim all over again, and like she had taken responsibility for saving his life, also took responsibility for finding a way for him to swim again. In the process, completely by instinct, she imitated the way he should try it, using her wings like flippers. Silverwing was in absolute shock when she realized that she could swim gracefully and quickly with little effort. It was as if her wings were meant for this specific purpose. She got her cutie mark that day, a turtle. She and the turtle became close friends and swimming buddies, and she named him Tuttle.

Likes: Turtles, swimming, sweets, cuddling, nighttime, birds.

Dislikes: Salty foods, hot days, crowds, team sports.

Fun Facts:

• She has an obsession and crush on Princess Luna. Like a celebrity crush. She tries to hold it back a bit because it makes Astra uncomfortable, but if she had her way, Silverwing would talk for hours about every last fact about the alicorn.

• She’s a bit self conscious, and truly believes that she loves Astra more than Astra loves her.

• Even though most of her hatred for her deformed wings disappeared when she discovered her talent, she still badly wishes she could fly as well as most pegasi.
